I recently read about a concept I found interesting in Kurt Mortensen’s “Magnetic Persuasion Newsletter” (motto: when you need to persuade, it’s too late to learn). You can join his newsletter here: http://advancedinfluence.com/page8.php
According to Kurt, willpower is one of the four aspect of motivation—when you have willpower you have the ability to motivate yourself and delay gratification. He says willpower is like a battery and as you use it throughout the day, it declines. Your willpower battery is massively drained by fatigue, negative emotions, low blood sugar, suppression of emotions, and peer pressure.
Kurt’s suggestions for charging up your willpower battery include: take a nap, have a snack, talk to a positive person, do some exercise, replay your vision, employ humor, meditate, and engage in service.
So what do you think? Have you experienced a low willpower battery, and what did you do about it?
