Last night I had the privilege of hearing Neale Donald Walsch speak at Unity Church. He is the author of about a dozen books, including the Conversations with God series, and I have admired his work for many years. He covered much in 2 ½ hours; I share two of the concepts here.
First concept: God is All That Is, so you are part of God and it could not be otherwise. There is no separation from God. You are the form and experience of God. In other words, God is pure positive energy and takes on form through our physical bodies and experiences the world through us individually. God sees through your eyes, touches through your hands, speaks through your voice. How would it change the way you think about your life, the way you live each day, if you understood and believed that?
Second concept: There is a spiritual reason for everything that happens in your life that moves your soul forward on it’s highest spiritual path. Nothing has ever gone wrong, and when we think it has it is only because we are not perceiving this concept. He asked how many in the audience had experienced something that, at the time, seemed quite terrible, but later turned out to be an important turning point in their life. Over half the audience raised their hands. It is the same, he said, with all things, small or large, that happen in our lives. Everything is exactly as it should be. That may be a hard concept to accept. Can you imagine, asking God throughout the day, “What is the spiritual lesson in what just happened” instead of saying, “That shouldn’t have happened”? How would it change the way you think about your life, the way you live each day, if you understood and believed this concept?
For me, there is a peacefulness in knowing that all is perfect in this moment and this moment and this moment. Believe me, I have to remind myself often. God sees the big picture, He knows what I came here to do in this lifetime and how best to accomplish that. How silly of me to think I should (or can) control circumstances to make things take the exact form I, in my limited understanding of the whole, think they should. There is great freedom in trusting that all is well, all is contributing to my growth in my highest spiritual path.
How have you experienced either of these concepts in your life?
